In this world there are poor people and wealthy people. This is due to Allah ta'ala's wisdom. It is our duty to be satisfied with our circumstances.
Every human being whether wealthy or poor, is in need of peace of the heart and it is difficult to spend a life without peace. Some even resort to suicide in the absence of peace. We all depend on peace and our life is incomplete without it.
Everyone desires to acquire peace and they adopt the means to attain it. One may utilise his wealth or alcohol or lust to attain temporary peace, however, it soon diminishes.
In reality, peace and contentment are not something which can be purchased. It cannot be acquired through our efforts because peace lies in the control of Allah ta'ala and the world itself can never grant us peace. A person tires himself looking for contentment through every avenue before he eventually turns to Allah ta'ala. This is where he will attain true peace.
The world can never provide us peace and contentment. Allah ta'ala desires us to turn towards Him. When we remember Him, then He will grant us peace and contentment.
There are people who were on the brink of suicide, but had their lives transformed after learning dhikr and remembering Allah ta'ala.
Shaytan makes a person believe that his life is a waste, although our life is such a fantastic thing.
When we repent, Allah ta'ala forgives our sins and transforms our sins in to good deeds. Allah ta'ala loves the sinful person. Even if a person has accumulated many sins, Allah ta'ala still forgives Him.
One can try to attain peace from anywhere in the world, but he will not attain it until he engages in Allah ta'ala's remembrance. Nothing is beneficial for us in this world besides dhikr. It will grant us peace and contentment not only in this world, but even in the Hereafter.
Nabi ﷺ mentions that the greatest deed which protects a person from the punishment of the grave, is the remembrance of Allah ta'ala. The punishment of the grave is very severe and the Prophet ﷺ warned his own daughter about it.
To change and improve is not difficult. It is Shaytan who constantly reminds us of our sins in order to distance us from repentance. He encourages us to stay away from piety, making us fear reverting to our old ways. He spreads out the benefit of our sins and makes us lose hope.
We should not lose hope in the mercy of Allah ta'ala as the extent of His mercy is very great. We should not delay in improving ourselves because there is nothing easier in life than to become pious. In fact, a sinner who takes the hand of a pious person, is given a new lease of life.
Often, a person engages in much worship including dhikr, yet he does not experience peace of the heart. This is because only those acts which are performed with respect are accepted by Allah ta'ala. We must worship with respect otherwise, it will not grant us peace and contentment.
A person who worships alongside sinning is demonstrating disrespect. His worship will have no effect upon him. The condition of worshipping Allah ta'ala is that a person must be pure.
Prayer must be established and not considered a burden which must be over and done with. Prayer is a worship which connects a servant to his Lord. This is why we have been commanded to pray five times a day. The more a person engages in voluntary prayers, the more he becomes closer to Allah ta'ala and the more he connects with Allah ta'ala.
The true observer of prayer is he who purifies himself alongside establishing his prayers. Our spiritual diseases are embedded within us which is why our prayers do not benefit us and we don't feel content.
When a group of people assemble to remember Allah ta'ala, Allah ta'ala sends His choicest angels to surround them from all four sides. Additionally, Allah ta'ala's Mercy descends upon this group. This is the action which causes us to be protected from everything and it instils peace and satisfaction within our hearts.
Imagine those who spends their morning and evening in the same way and imagine what their Hereafter will be like!
On the day of judgement, people will be drowning in their own sweat and will face severe conditions. There will be a group of people who will be sat upon beautifully decorated thrones and their faces will be shining like the moon. Mankind will question who they are. They will be those who engaged in Allah ta'ala's remembrance.
Lives are transformed in the company of the wali Allah. In their company, we learn how to achieve the peace of the heart through the dhikr of Allah ta'ala.
When a person's heart is enlightened, then everything around him becomes enlightened.
“O Allah, place light in my heart and light on my tongue. Place light in my hearing and light in my seeing. Place light behind me and light in front of me. Place light above me and light below me. O Allah, grant me light!” [Bukhari Shareef]
We should recite this prayer when we leave our homes for Fajr prayer.
A person who abandons the dhikr of Allah ta'ala, will lose out in this world as well as the Hereafter. Even in Paradise, people will regret abandoning Allah ta'ala's dhikr for even a moment, as it would've earnt them a higher status in Paradise.
It is not possible to perform any action constantly besides the dhikr of Allah ta'ala. We shouldn’t waste our time or a second of our life without dhikr, for a person who engages in dhikr is not a heedless person.
Performing dhikr of the tongue is not always possible and Allah ta'ala desires us to remember Him all the time, so we should revive our hearts and remember Him through learning the dhikr of the heart. When we remember Allah, we are assigning our heart to Allah ta'ala.
When we depart from such a gathering, we should supplicate to Allah ta'ala to help us implement what we have heard, otherwise nothing will benefit us and our ears and eyes will remain sealed from absorbing the guidance. The Quran sends curse upon such people who do not implement and strive to cease their sins.
We regard Allah ta'ala's instructions to be insignificant and we revert back to our old ways after Ramadan passes. This is due to our hearts being sealed. If the deen does not affect us, we are worse than animals.
Allah ta'ala gives us chance after chance to listen to the Quran and reflect over our own sins. We chase after reward but in reality, Allah ta'ala rewards us when He is pleased with us. If Allah ta'ala is pleased with our worship, only then we will attain the reward. First of all, we should strive to please Him.
Allah ta'ala invites us to remember Him and there is no other worship or action which Allah ta'ala has praised more than His remembrance. When a person remembers Allah ta'ala, his problems and sicknesses are eliminated.
How does Shaytan affect us?
If we face a boulder or a hurdle whilst we are travelling, we pause our travel in order to remove it and then we continue upon our journey.
If we fail to adhere to His instructions and we sin, it is due to the hurdles on our journey of life. We must remove the barrier - which is our desires and continue on our journey. In this way, our worship will be elevated and we will become the best human being who is purified inside and out.
When we purify ourselves, we become successful and if we remain impure, then we are a failure. If we obey our desires and abandon the orders of Allah ta'ala, then we will be wretched in both worlds and will never be able to obey Allah ta'ala's orders.
How to remove the hurdle of our desires?
Our desires cannot be crushed on their own. We must assign ourselves and our desires to a teacher who can train and coach us and he will help us to control our desires.
Our desires seek to destroy us and whoever fails to take up a teacher, will end up obeying his desires instead. If he obeys his desires, it proves that he does not have a connection with his teacher.
Allah ta'ala sent us to this world in order to fulfil His orders. This is our sole objective and if we fulfil it, we will be granted the highest level in Paradise in which we will abide forever. Allah ta'ala will be our host and will be sat on beautiful thrones. We will be immersed in enjoyment and we will forget about the world.

Nabi ﷺ would recite a beautiful prayer:
