Every moment of Ramadan is blessed, however, we don’t know which moment is preferred by Allah ta'ala and will grant us success. Our duty is to stay focused during this month.
Sometimes a person attains success at the end of Ramadan, but a slave should always be a beggar in the court of Allah ta'ala. We don't know which action is pleasing to Allah ta'ala, so we should keep working.
Allah ta'ala has granted us the entire month to develop those deeds performed with quality. We are enabled to perform valuable deeds by acquiring Taqwa. If you perform one action with Taqwa, it means it has been performed for the sake of Allah ta'ala. One deed performed in such a way, elevates a person to a high rank.
That action which is performed solely for the sake of Allah ta'ala will benefit a person. If not performed for the sake of Allah ta'ala, he will not get reward.
Our actions performed with sincerity are more weightier and valuable than those actions performed for the sake of the world.
When the Prophet ﷺ migrated from Makkah to Madinah, all other people started migrating too. There was a couple in Makkah who liked each other and wanted to marry. They became Muslim. During migration, the woman left for Madinah and the man remained in Makkah. He contacted the woman asking how they would get married. The woman expressed her desire to remain with the Prophet ﷺ in Madinah. Thus, the man put his things together and went to Madinah. After prayers, the Prophet ﷺ looked at the Sahabi and said, "Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended. Whoever migrates with an intention for Allah and His messenger, the migration will be for the sake of Allah and his Messenger. And whoever migrates for worldly gain or to marry a woman, then his migration will be for the sake of whatever he migrated for." [Bukhari]
This Sahabi's purpose was marriage, so it is not a sincere migration. He didn’t migrate solely for Allah ta'ala's sake.
The whole deen is based upon our intentions. We should not mix our own desires when performing an action for the sake of Allah ta'ala otherwise, it will not bear the fruits in both worlds.
If you perform an action purely for the sake of Allah ta'ala and there's no other objective, then it becomes a very great action.
There were three friends who went on a journey to another city. Whilst they were travelling, heavy rain began falling and they all sought refuge in a cave. A boulder came and trapped the mouth of the cave. They thought they were stuck. They all presented a deed to Allah ta'ala which they performed for His sake. The first stated that his parents were old and he prioritised serving his parents and feeding them over his own children. On one occasion, he stood by their side the entire night. He sacrificed the love of his children in order to implement the law of Allah ta'ala regarding serving the parents. He did this for the sake of Allah ta'ala and here, he used this action as means to be safe from the boulder. Then, the boulder moved itself a little bit. Imagine the power of his request!
The second man presented a deed he performed for the sake of Allah ta'ala. The third person also presented a deed to Allah ta'ala which he performed for His sake and then they were all able to free themselves from the cave.
We must also assess whether we have any deeds like this which are performed solely for His sake.
Our parents become old, but we disobey them and fail to serve them. In reality, parents are a guarantee for Paradise. Whenever you're seeking a solution and you're father supplicates to Allah ta'ala on your behalf, you will attain success. This is because your father supplicates from the depths of his heart.
Nowadays, we abandon our parents and fail to support them and we focus on our children as they are more beloved to us. We don't do anything for our parents unless we see a personal benefit.
This Hadith teaches us that we should live in this world, but perform actions for the sake of Allah ta'ala. We should seek a means to Allah ta'ala, like a Sheikh and we should do this only for the sake of Allah ta'ala.
You can never succeed until Allah ta'ala is in between your action. Unfortunately, we sell the deen in the name of Islam and it becomes a cause of quarrels and disputes. We commit actions for the sake of world and we argue with other countries for the sake of the world. We have a lack of genuine leaders who perform actions for the sake of Allah ta'ala. The Sahabah used miswak and they became victorious due to practicing one Sunnah, yet we have abandoned it today.
A small action performed for the sake of Allah ta'ala, makes our actions very strong. We are hollow because we fail to perform actions for the sake of Allah ta'ala. If our intentions are contaminated with our desires, then our deeds become futile.
Allah ta'ala has given us this extra day so that we can promise to perform actions only for His sake.
We should adorn the turban for the sake of Allah ta'ala and when we have this intention, we will have much confidence within us.
Sincerity lies in service. You must respect your father no matter how he treats you. Even if you don't have a good connection with your father, you should still serve him for the sake of Allah ta'ala and not for his sake. This is because parents are a means to become closer to Allah ta'ala and attain His pleasure.
When your parents order you to go against deen, then you must prioritise Allah ta'ala's orders, for no love can overwhelm the love of Allah ta'ala.
We should make our deeds pure, otherwise we are wasting our time and no actions will be accepted. We should prioritise upholding the laws of Allah ta'ala and performing actions for His sake because such genuine deeds take a person to Paradise.
Whoever revives the Sunnah, it is as though he has revived the entire deen. The wali Allah achieves this in this generation where it is very hard to revive a Sunnah. Where the deen is being eliminated, the wali Allah demonstrates that it can be revived.
When you have sincerity, you can revive an entire human being. If you share one hadith with sincerity, you can change the hearts of humanity.
“Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.” [2:201]
Just this one supplication is sufficient for us. We are not required to supplicate for forty minutes.
حَسَنَةً
This word holds a lot of weight. When you seek goodness from Allah ta'ala, then you become independent from people.
The root of deen is taqwa. Allah ta'ala orders us to fear Him and sit in the company of the truthful. With faith, you must adopt taqwa and this is true success in both worlds and this will grant you the ranks.
We must shun the world and perform our actions for the sake of Allah ta'ala, otherwise we wont attain anything.
