The Message of Rabbi-ul-Awwal

A person continues to receive the effects and blessings of this month throughout the rest of the year. To practice the Sunnah and to improve our deficiencies is even more important during this month.

What is faith?
Faith is our foundation. Everything depends on our faith. If our faith is weak, our actions will be weak. If our faith is solid, our actions will be solid. Thus, the success of deeds is based upon faith.

What is the foundation of faith?
The foundation of faith is the love for the Prophet ﷺ. Our Deen is formulated upon the love for the Prophet ﷺ. Therefore, a person's faith carries no weight without the love for the Prophet ﷺ.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind." [Bukhari Shareef]

This is a great standard of love. His love should be such genuine love whereby, no love of the world should be superior to the love for him ﷺ. In reality, no love can contest beyond the instructions and obedience of the Prophet ﷺ. Therefore, a person's faith and deeds are of no weight and value, if he has no love for the Prophet ﷺ.

How can you tell if you possess sincere love?

There is only one standard of love. Whoever claims to love the Prophet ﷺ, it is essential that he imitates him, because a person cannot truly love the Prophet ﷺ without imitating him. A person who claims to love without imitating, is a hypocrite and not a true lover. Shaytan has trapped this person and he is deceived.

The way to measure our Deen is to see how much of the Sunnah we follow. We should assess ourselves with this one measurement gauge, as true love for the Prophet ﷺ depends upon his obedience and emulation.

When Allah ta'ala explains the virtue of something in particular, its status never diminishes. Rather, until Qiyamah its status increases. Consequently, Nabi ﷺ's status is being elevated with every passing moment. This is why a person cannot possibly shower upon him due praise.

The foundation of Deen is based upon love for the Prophet ﷺ, and the foundation of his love, is based upon his obedience and imitation. All the Sahabah imitated the ways of the Prophet ﷺ and the love for Nabi ﷺ is what made the Sahabah elevated and increased in ranks. It wasn't due to their relation to him or any other factors.

The Sahabah eagerly practiced the Sunnah m which is why they had complete faith. We wish to complete our Imaan through acts of worship, however, our faith will only be completed through the obedience of the Prophet ﷺ. Nowadays, we complain about the Sunnah and we demote it. A believer fails when he lacks in obedience to the Prophet ﷺ but we don't have certitude in this.

We should be reminded that if our imitation is lacking, then our love is lacking. If our love is lacking, then our faith is lacking. If our faith is lacking, then our deeds are lacking. And if our deeds are lacking, then what success will we receive?

When we are faced with a calamity, we should assess what Sunnah we are failing to adopt. There must be something lacking from the Sunnah in our households. We shouldn’t fall prey to Shaytan who deceives us into considering the implementation of Sunnah, unnecessary.

We are facing calamity today due to leaving the ways of the Prophet ﷺ. The standard of the Deen is to follow the Sunnah. No worship holds power and value without obedience to the Prophet ﷺ, yet Shaytan has made us under false impression that without imitation of the Sunnah, we have success. If you wish status and progression in this world and the Hereafter, it'll only come from the obedience of the Prophet ﷺ. You will become degraded, destroyed and cursed when you abandon the ways of the Sunnah.

We should abandon the marches and the conferences. Rather, collectively and individually, we should assess our level of implementing the Sunnah, for this is where the cure lies.

We should mourn our lack of love for the Prophet ﷺ and assess how much we are connected to the Prophet ﷺ. We should fix our homes and implement the Sunnah, otherwise we will never find peace in our homes and in our graves.

When a person practices upon the Sunnah, his Deen becomes complete and the Angels come to greet him. Such a person is blessed with witnessing the Prophet ﷺ. Today, we have veiled ourselves from these blessings ourselves.

Worship is one part of Deen and the real Deen is outside the Masjid, yet we have enclosed Deen within the Masjid. We call ourselves proper Muslims, yet, we fight in the Masaajid regarding matters of Islam. We should avoid creating our own understanding of Deen because the true reflection of Deen is through imitating Nabi ﷺ's ways.

We should follow the Sunnah internally and externally, not just outwardly through our appearances. We should aim to act upon the Sunnah just like the Awliyah Allah and the Sahabah acted upon it without fuss. We should disregard everything else besides Sunnah.

Hadhrat Anas رضي الله عنه said, "A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "When will Qiyamah occur?" Nabi ﷺ responded by saying, "Your question is very great. What have you prepared for it?" The questioner replied, "I haven't exceeded beyond praying my Faraaid, fasting, and giving in charity. I do not do anything extra, but I do love Allah and His Rasul ﷺ and I obey him." Nabi ﷺ said, "Congratulations! Hadhrat Jibraeel عليه السلام came with the Quran saying, 'give him glad tidings as the one who obeys you and imitates your lifestyle, will be raised with the ones he loves.'" Such a person will be raised with the martyrs, the truthful and the Messengers.

Similarly, if you fulfil the promises and instructions of your Sheikh, you will rise with him. Being immersed in his love is what allows a person to obey his Sheikh and have his connection strengthened. This is the straightforward Deen.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement.
