Hadhrat Umar Radiyallahu anhu narrates from Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم that on this day Allah ta'ala created the throne, the stars, moon and mountains. He created the pen and all of the Angels.
Allah ta'ala selected this day to create Hadhrat Adam and Ibrahim عليهم السلام and on the same day, Allah ta'ala allowed Hadhrat Ibrahim عليه السلام to be removed from the fire. Allah ta'ala also selected this day to accept the repentance of Hadhrat Adam عليه السلام and He also granted kingship to Hadhrat Sulaiman عليه السلام.
Allah ta'ala chose this day for the martyrdom of Hadhrat Hussain رضي الله عنه. Behind this is a great message which Allah ta'ala wanted to give to our Ummah. That was the message of being steadfast upon Deen and the Truth.
The further the generations are from the Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم, the greater the trials for a person which will cause his Deen to become weak and contaminated. Such a person sells his faith for a very small price.
It has been mentioned in Hadith that Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم mentioned that the people of his nation will be like apes and swine. They will worship for the sake of reward and they will have forgotten the Sunnah and Shariah. They will adopt music and intoxication, yet they will worship and resemble the apes. This is the Fitna which we are facing today about which Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم warned us. We must be steadfast upon the Sunnah and Shariah exclusively and we shouldn't forsake it at all.
Where there is Deen, there is no sins and opposition to Shariah and Sunnah. There will be no sacrificing the Sunnah. A believer receives his guidance through the Sunnah. This is the standard of the Deen which has been given to us. When a person commits sins, his appearance becomes transfigured into animals, even if he worships.
Yazid used to worship, but there was sinning alongside. He presented a contaminated Deen in his time. Hadhrat Hussain رضي الله عنه responded, "If I don't stand against this Deen which he has created, in order to protect the Deen, then the Deen will be corrupted until Qiyamah." Hadhrat Hussain رضي الله عنه couldn't stand the Sunnah and Shariah being forsaken. This is a big lesson for us. We should correct our Hereafter through these examples. We should rectify our contaminated Deen by raising our hands in repentance tonight. In this way, Allah ta'ala will not only forgive us, rather, He will also transform our sins into good deeds.
You do not learn litanies from the Khankah. Rather, you learn how to shun the sins and materialism. This is how you becomes successful and connected to Allah ta'ala, otherwise your worship goes to a waste and pride and greediness for the world is created within you.
If you want to be saved, then you must adopt the company of a Wali Allah. It doesn't matter how much of a grave fitna you fall in to, but, if you adopt the company of the wali Allah with the sole purpose of keeping your Deen pure, then you have entered the fortress and you have become safe. You will not leave his company without success and forgiveness.
In order to attain Allah ta'ala, we must forsake those things which Allah ta'ala dislikes. We should focus on this. The reward and blessings of this day are granted to those who fulfil the purpose of this day and they repent.
To earn even a little bit of unlawful earnings causes your worship to be rejected for 40 years. Thus, Deen is to take precaution and exercise restraint. Taqwa is to be extremely careful with how you spend your life. We should be cautious of not spending our days displeasing Allah ta'ala.
If today, Allah ta'ala selects you to go to a certain place, and to worship there, then know that you must live like that. You must follow patience and the truth. When Allah ta'ala sends you to a place, then know that He has selected you and He wishes to see how steadfast you are.
This day is not for beating oneself. We should implement the things which Imam Hussain رضي الله عنه taught us when he departed that we should remain steadfast upon the truth and exercise patience upon this path. Hadhrat Hussain رضي الله عنه did not submit to what was wrong. He remained steadfast upon his teaching. Those who wish to become pious, learn courage and determination from Hadhrat Hussain رضي الله عنه.
Hadhrat Hussain رضي الله عنه remembered his prayer at a very severe time and he knew he would be martyred, whilst today, we forsake our prayers and abandon the mosque for our businesses and other small excuses. This is a lesson for us that we should not compromise our Deen and mix our Deen with something new.
We face trials and we think we will gain success by Recitation and prayers. In reality, the true Deen is to obey Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم. A person who has certainty and faith in Nabi ﷺ, then due to his love for Nabi ﷺ, he won't possess fear of death at all. Allah ta'ala has placed success in obedience of the Prophet ﷺ.
We should learn to give up the things we love and nothing should prevent us from fulfilling Allah ta'ala's orders. We must bear sadness and poverty, but never break the Shariah.
This path is difficult and you will be tested but this path will elevate you. We should persevere for a small amount of time and then there is permanent enjoyment for us through the grace of Allah ta'ala. Whatever you sacrifice for the sake of Allah, Allah ta'ala will replace you with something better.
Tasawwuf refers to sacrifice. Assign yourself over to a Wali Allah for the sake of Allah. In order to be safe from today's Fitna, we must take hold of the company of the Awliyah Allah and the Dhikr of Allah. Do not fear the Fitna as Allah ta'ala has created them and they will remain until Qiyaamah. Rather, go to the company of the Awliyah Allah and obey their instructions.
