Which Deed is Beloved to Allah?

Allah ta'ala has sworn by the greatness of these ten days of Dhul Hijjah.

Nabi ﷺ has stated that these ten days are more beloved to Allah ta'ala than all other days of the year. Therefore, the deeds we perform during these days are much greater to Allah ta'ala than the deeds we perform throughout the rest of the year.

We should take benefit from these blessed nights by engaging in that action which is most beloved to Allah ta'ala. That is the act of seeking repentance from Allah ta'ala.

Only a sinful person can implement this action, therefore, we should not look towards our pious deeds and actions. Rather, we should consider ourselves sinners, so that we can perform this action of repentance which is very beloved to Allah ta'ala. Furthermore, a good person, is he who considers himself to be low and sinful.
Allah ta'ala loves the act of repentance. Nabi ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His slave than a person who lost his camel in a desert land and then finds it (unexpectedly.)" [Bukhari]

After seeking repentance, a person becomes extremely successful. Nabi ﷺ would repeatedly remind the Sahabah regarding the importance of repentance. Thus, one can only imagine the rewards kept for this great action!

Shaytan and Nafs do not allow us to advance towards repentance, despite it being extremely important. We are unaware if we will witness these nights of Dhul Hijjah again, so we should spend these ten days of Dhul Hijjah engaging in Istighfaar. We should perform 2 rakat Nafl for repentance everyday and make Dua to Allah ta'ala, seeking His forgiveness. Allah ta'ala will then announce our forgiveness!

Dhikr is such a beautiful and unique worship that when we remember Allah ta'ala, He remembers us. No other worship, not even Tahajjud, gives us this virtue!

Those who engage in Dhikr will never be left empty-handed in this world and in the Hereafter. If we remember Him in solitude, Allah ta'ala remembers us in solitude. If we remember Him in a Gathering, He remembers us in a greater Gathering in which His selected angels are present with Him. Allah ta'ala remembers the Dhaakireen according to His Glory and status.

The pious predecessors mention that the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala is the only action whereby a person attains the nearness and love of Allah ta'ala. The more a person engages in Dhikr, the nearer he becomes to Allah ta'ala. If we attain this great benefit, then what else is there to achieve? Through this blessing, a person's needs are also fulfilled.

When a person is remembered by Allah ta'ala, are his matters not known by Allah ta'ala? Would Allah ta'ala not know a Dhaakir's condition?

All the actions of Hajj are the signs of Allah ta'ala's Dhikr. Allah ta'ala revives His remembrance by granting us the pillars of Hajj. These actions are performed in order to exalt His praises.

During the time of the Prophet ﷺ, Dhikr was performed openly and publicly during these blessed days. Therefore, we should loot the treasures from these blessed Dhikr Gatherings.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to take maximum benefit from these blessed days. Ameen.
