When Allah ta'ala grants one the desire to engage in dhikr and go to a friend of Allah, then it is a great blessing from Allah and it is a means of guidance for the human being.
Allah ta'ala grants the ability to visit a pious person and then the hearts are connected and the love is generated. Then a person is required to crush his own desires and Shaytan.
A person who doesn't engage in dhikr, it is as if he is dead. After he engages in dhikr, his inner state becomes alive.
The dhikr of Allah ta'ala fulfils 2 functions.
All the previous sins which he committed are forgiven. And Allah ta'ala saves him from the sins that he would've committed in the future.
Nafs and shaytan attempt to take a person towards sins, but dhikr holds such a power that it prevents him from committing sins. He himself remains unaware of what is preventing him from sin but this is Allah ta’ala’s help and assistance upon him.
When a person sins, it results in depression, troubles, difficulties and sicknesses. When a person sins begin to increase, then all these problems generate.
For example, if you don't take care of the soil of the earth, then weeds and wild plants begin to emerge. Similarly, if a person doesn't take care of his soul, then all his negatives within which have been generated, become the focal point of Jinns. Jinns enter his heart and a person becomes depressed and experiences mental stress and personal life problems.
So dhikr prevents a person from sin, and then he does not have that passion or desire to sin. And in the absence of this desire, immediately his life becomes easy. This is called Barakah and this is how blessings enter a persons life and he starts to feel positive about everything.
This is the dhikr of Allah which has many benefits and the greatest benefit is that one attains Allah's nearness. Allah ta'ala has promised that the more we remember Him, the more He will draw nearer to us.
We shouldn’t avoid dhikr thinking it is difficult or it is only restricted to the pious people. These negative thoughts are from Shaytan. This is from the traps of Shaytan. Only when you wake up, you will realise how wrong you were and you'll regret not performing and valuing dhikr.
We should take advantage of the chances that Allah ta'ala has given to us because in the Hereafter it will be too late and we will be faced with punishment.
We should open our eyes and take hold of the company of the Dhaakireen, have complete belief in them, love them, have sincerity with them with the right intention. Keep good connection with them and there should be no malice in your heart regarding them because this is all from Shaytan who takes you far from the guide. Seek istighfaar and have good belief in the teacher and then you will get the promotion via the dhikr of Allah.
