DARS 30
On the one hand we have the form of creation that is made from noor. They are close to Allah and spoken to by Allah, and their abode is in the heavens and in the sky. They are obedient, and disobedience can never come in them. They have no doubts and no objections. Their food and their pass time is the remembrance of Allah. Worship is their occupation. And more intense than these examples is their situation.
On the other hand, we have the creation made out of soil or clay. And this is the soil and clay of the earth that was created. They have consciousness and awareness, but they also have the ability to go towards shar. Shaytaan and nafs are alongside them. They are far from Allah and not near like the angels. Disobedience and challenges are around them. Shahawaat, passions and base desires are around them and amongst them. They are occupied in such actions or things in the world that attract them towards wrong. The burning fire of jahannam is awaiting them. The ability to do shirk is always available, and disobedience is always an option. Every form of mischief, and immodesty and wrong is found amongst them. So, tell me, how can you compare the 2 forms of creation. Can anybody explain? Can anybody compare? But from amongst both, the crown of khilaafa has been put on the head of the human being. Insaan, humankind is the khailfa, the deputy. He is the representative and he has been appointed. And he is not a small khalilfa; Allah subhana wa ta’ala has made him His deputy on the earth. That’s it, and he has one fikr, one concern that was given by Allah subhana wa ta’ala. This was enough for the malaaika and Allah ta’ala gave it to him. Allah says; إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ, I know that which you don’t know. This is the answer that Allah ta’ala gave to the angels. Allahu akbar, what a big example; that Allah ta’ala established the dunya, and Allah ta’ala used that example right at the beginning of time. That in My affairs, My ahkamaat, My wisdom, My tariqah and My hikmah, your aqal that I have given to you cannot work. Whether you are noorani angels or you are human beings on the earth. You cannot utilise aqal, wisdom, intellect, brainpower against My hiqmah, My wisdom and My creation. So the solution here is in Allah’s statement. Allah says;
قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
We live in the world with Allah ta’ala’s instructions. Allah says that just like I have selected you and nothing was there at that time that could accept this wisdom of mine, in the same way you must live in the world, and whatever situation arises in the world, always focus on keeping your Lord happy and pleased. Don’t try to justify your actions by aql and wisdom, and by your brain and your opinions. If you do this Allah says, if you follow my guidance it will be easier for you to live in the world, otherwise you will not be able to pass the time. You will not be able to recognise My wisdom, My choices and what I have ordained. All you need to do is accept whatever decision of Allah’s comes to you. Accept whatever recommendation of Allah comes to you even if you cannot understand it. Even if your brain power and your brain cells don’t allow you to understand it. Even if your faham and your understanding doesn’t take you to that level.
Don’t start to question that why am I in difficulty, and why has this issue happened with me? Why am I in these difficult circumstances? Why did this scene happen to me and why did this accident occur? why did this occur and why am I not fortunate enough? Why has the situation suddenly changed? Why did this not happen with person x, y and z, and why with me? Why is this happening in the dunya? Why doesn’t it rain here? Why is there no illness in another place just like it is here, even though we practise so much? Why are there so much difficulties on our heads. And how comes those who are disobedient have so much luxury and comfort? This is the dunya! This is the dunya! This is the realm of the dunya. The angels are made of light and the human beings who are made of soil are living on the earth. Yet who has Allah made His khalifa and deputy? Those very people whom we have just discussed.
So, Allah from the start explained everything and in the verses of Quran everything is explained. Brothers, the Quran teaches us understanding of how to live our lives in this world. All the verses of the Quran we have discussed are just the beginning of the Quran. Allah is preparing the ground and laying the foundations of the deen. A very important part of the foundations of the deen is that Allah says whatever circumstances arise in the world, Allah is the Khaliq and He will create situations and it is His decisions that will go. We shouldn’t think why did this happen? Why didn’t it happen to him? He was like this and she was like this. She didn’t believe in Allah, but we believed in Allah so why did it happen to us? Why is it happening in this way? Why doesn’t it happen like this? No! There should be no why’s!
Why did Corona come here, and why didn’t it go there? What is Corona? is it a disease? Why has it spread and who sent it? This is what we are seeing in the world today. Could anyone even think that these conditions would suddenly have an impact on the world? Could you ever think that we would pray salah like this? Could you imagine that we would run away from each other whenever we see each other? We don’t even touch each other. But even now I will say to you, subhanAllah, Allah says;
قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
You will not know why this is happening. What it is, how did it occur and who decided it. You may have problems with these decisions and you may have worries and concerns. But don’t worry about what doesn’t affect you and concern you. Allah says different things will happen during life, ups and downs will happen, but put one thing 100 percent into your mind;
قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
Allah made the decision in the heavens at that time. A massive decision, and Allah showed all of the negatives. Allah ta’ala made the angels gather the soil, and Allah showed the dunya that they will go to, the dunya that was already full of fasaad. The Angels questioned and queried, and they had a concern. Allahu akbar, they were not rejecting, they weren’t challenging; it was just that they were surprised a little bit.
The angels hymn Allah’s praises and accept everything that Allah ta’ala has ordained. But we reject and we are unhappy with Allah’s decisions. So Allah says that whenever a decision comes from Allah the most powerful, then know that Allah is the creator, it is His will, and He loves His creation so much. If someone is given the decision that this will happen here, or that will happen there, then know that no-one more than Allah loves the human beings. If Allah has supreme love and affection, then will he give distress and problems and illness and diseases to the human beings for nothing? No, they will have the outwardly affect and seem to be destruction, but Allah’s hikmah and love is behind it. Allah ta’ala has given us a beautiful method; whatever I give to you accept it and be pleased with it. As human beings you will have difficulties, ups and downs, and highs and lows. My decisions will seem difficult for you. You will feel that there are problems and no doubt you will feel this. But you need to understand how you can overcome that hardship. Don’t criticise and complain. Allah says if I give you hardship and difficulty, I will also tell you the method to overcome that hardship too; it is my Dhikr, and the Dhikr of Allah will ease and make everything Smooth.
Whatever circumstances arise, Allah says it is from Me and Its good for you. If it’s a disease, then I have sent it. If it’s an accident, then I have sent it. If something happens outwardly that is negative, then know that it’s Me that has sent it. You should remember Me and accept it, and if you are happy with whatever I have ordained then you will live comfortably. Allah tells us to strengthen this understanding and aqeedah. Who is there today that hasn’t got problems? We will say; I have issues and I have problems in life. Why did this happen to me? Why did my father say this to me? Why did my mother say this to me? Why did this thing break? Why did this decision go against me? Nobody has done anything to you brothers. Who is the one that controls these things? Allah is Wahid, He is the One that is running the universe and the world. There is no other Lord or God, Naoozo billah, Allah is wah da hoo laa shareek, He is the One supreme being. Allah is controlling the universe. And all lifelong it’s His decisions that will rule. We can’t do anything. Even if Allah ta’ala wants us to be in pieces, then that’s it, we would become like dust because Its Allah’s decision. In this small world, there are ups and downs, but it’s all Allah’s hikmah. We shouldn’t cry and complain. Its all Allahs hikmah and wisdom. But even then, Allah has given us a solution to keep us strong and robust. Allah ta’ala has given us the permission of his dhikr. He has given us the permission. There is so much barakah in dhikr, that it develops sakeena, peace and contentment in a person, so that he has the the ability to be happy with all of Allah’s decisions. This is the dhaakir. So this is the clear thing, that Allah is the controller, and Allah said;
قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
Allah has taught us how to live in the world. Allah says I know better than you, I know what should be and what shouldn’t be so don’t question and complain. Be happy and content. Yet after all of this, look where the angels are and where the human beings are. We have seen the difference between the 2 in their creation, and how they live and what they do. So what’s the hikmah of Allah here? Why has Allah ta’ala made the human being afdhal; the superior form of creation? What is it about the human being? What is the hikmah of Allah ta’ala in this situation? Allah ta’ala has explained this to us as well. Allah says;
Surah Baqara ayah 31
Allahu akbar, the Angels said; oh Allah we hymn your praises and we remember you. Allah says; you presented Me your worship and definitely I am Qabeer and Baseer, and I know what you do. Allah knows how the Angels remember Him and Allah Ta’ala said I know what you do. Allah ta’ala gave them this response.
So what is the reason for it? The human being is made from soil and clay. He is made out of the dust taken from the earth. Allah has sent him to the earth, and Ibn Adam and all of his off-spring will live on the earth. All the Ambiyaa will come from him and he is the father. So what is the quality, that Allah gave him this task on the earth? Allah says;
وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا
Allah taught Adam alayhi salam the names of all of the things and then placed them before the angels. Allah gave him (alayhi salam) ilm (knowledge), and due to ilm he (alayhi salam) is elevated. Allah says I taught him (alayhi salam) ilm. Now here a beautiful point arises. What does it mean that Allah ‘taught’ us? Did Allah ta’ala open-up some kitaab and teach Adam alayhi salam? Allah didn’t say; sit here and let me teach you some points.
وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا
What does this mean. The mufasireen (commentators) have explained this. That Allah gave Adam alayhi salam all the uloom. All the uloom and all the necessary knowledge. How did Allah ta’ala teach? When Allah created Adam alayhi salam, Allah didn’t open up a kitaab and teach him. Allah created him in such a way that he had the capacity to absorb the ilm, SubhanAllah. Hazrat Adam alayhi salam had the ability to absorb it, because he was made in such a way. For example, take a rose flower; a rose flower has the capacity to give fragrance. Different flowers have different fragrances and smell. Likewise, Allah gave water the capacity to quench thirst. Milk has the quality that it will give you benefit when you drink it. Similarly, with Hazrat Adam alayhi salam; when he was created Allah gave him the capability to absorb the ilm, and to draw the ilm. وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا Automatically Allah Ta’ala gave him (alayhi salam) the ability that he could learn and absorb all the ilm, and the angels didn’t have this quality. They were made of noor, yet the creation made out of soil had the ability to learn all the uloom, and all the knowledge that Allah ta’ala gave them. That was the difference. Why were they superior? Why was the crown of khilaafa given? It wasn’t the difference between light and soil, rather the difference was that the human being was an aalim. What a great status, look at the great level and capability of an aalim. Look at the level of ilm and knowledge and look at the status.
Another point comes out that a person should not go on the dhaahir (external), rather he should look at the reality beneath the surface. On the surface he is made of clay and soil, and he has sha’waat and nafs and is influenced by shaytaan. But what is in his baatin inside? What has Allah ta’ala put there? Allah ta’ala has put the reality that if he goes to his Lord and turns to Him. If he remembers his Lord then he will become the treasure of uloom and Allah ta’ala will gave him so much ability. So much ability that look at human beings like Imam Bukhari rahmatullah alayhi. Can anyone compare to him. Or Imam Abu Hanifa Rahmatullah alayhi or Imam Malik Rahmatullah alayhi or Imam Shaafi Rahmatullah alayhi. SubhanAllah, can anyone compare with them? 100,000 hadeeth were memorised by them. All the 30 juzz of the Quran was explained by them.
Look how the Quran is memorised. I am reciting ‘oola ikaa as haabunnaar’, but if I said ‘oola ikee as haabunnaar,’ then so many people who are listening and the hufaaz will say Hazrat you have recited the Quran wrong. Straightaway they will say this won’t they? They will say it’s not ‘oola ikee’ its ‘oola ikaa.’ Look at the effect of the Quran, that the haafiz will have a bad feeling. Those who have the Quran open right now will say Hazrat its not ‘oola ikee’ its ‘oola ikaa.’ Straightaway the mistake will be rectified. When I say ‘hum fi ha kaalidoon,’what if I read it ‘hum fi hee kaalidoon.’ So you cannot make a small difference in the Quran. Look at the human being and his capacity. Hazrat Adam alayhi salam had the ability to absorb the ilm. Even a young child goes to study the hadeeth kitab and the Quran. Look at the hadeeth, the fuqahaa, the kitaabs and jurisprudence. A young child reads all of this, and reads thousands of kitaabs. He will open-up and read and attain the knowledge that the angels could not. Allah says; Wa nahbadu mussadiqalazee. I gave you the Angels, the ability that you can remember me, worship me and hymn my praises. But the ilm and knowledge that I gave to ibn Adam, this is what elevated the human being. That’s how important ilm is. So that’s the difference. The difference is that yes we say the angels are pious, but the insaan (human-being) is very elevated, and has a higher status because of his ilm and his knowledge. This is a very great point that Allah ta’ala has allowed us to understand and made it clear for us. Insaan is made out of clay and soil but his ability is ilm, and this ilm has elevated him above the angels and made him greater than them. This speciality of ilm has made the human-being great in the world. This ilm has given him and all his children the crown of the khalifa. We are all children of Adam alayhi salam. All the human beings that are born, they all have this ability to learn ilm, and very quickly they can ascend in rank and levels due to this knowledge.
This is our objective, yet we are running after music, singing and instruments. We enjoy listening to lyrics and we enjoy qawaallees. This is not our purpose; our purpose should be that, night and day, we read the Quran and take out the points. That we memorise and read hadeeth. This is our objective of life. Every child can embark on this journey and learn this knowledge. Not that we say we will make our children this and that, and we take them along such and such career path. Even with me this occurred; My Father wanted to make me this and that. Uloom, science, technology etc exists, but the ability of a human being is something else. If we put Quran and the hadeeth in front of a child, he can learn that, but the difficulty is now that we have forgotten our objective and we are running after another path. We think this destination is a waste of time. The natural ilm which is the deeni ilm; we discard that and go after unnatural things and we prefer other uloom.
وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا
You need to understand the point that I am making here. We need to understand these are the words of the Quran. This Is not my opinion that I am presenting to you. We need to understand the ulema, the muftis, the scholars and the muhaditheen. They explained the meaning of these verses and the justice and the knowledge is there. I have told you this before; Allah ta’ala will tell us the points in these verses that we need to go towards. We are discussing this is in this gathering because the Quran is full of ilm and uloom. Today this is what the world needs. The Quran goes along with each generation, remember this. The Quran goes along with each generation. In the time of the sahaaba, whatever the sahaaba needed the Quran gave the message and the guidance. Likewise, in every generation and era the Quran gives the message updated, and todays message is this that we are reading. Do you understand what I am saying? What is it that I’m saying? That Allah ta’ala explained to the angels that you are great and you are doing good, but why did He give insaan the crown? Why did He make them the representatives? Because they are capable. Yes they are made out of clay but He gave them the quality that they can absorb all of the uloom. They have the ability and the capacity and capability to draw on the ilm, and to understand the ilm. To learn the ilm and elevate their status.
Allah said وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا. That Allah ta’ala taught Adam alayhi salam the knowledge and names of all things and then placed them before the angels and asked them; tell me the names of these things if you are right. In other words; Allah said Insaan has got the uloom and the knowledge. Allah prepared Insaan for this. So what was the ilm that Allah gave to Hazrat Adam alayhi salam and human kind. There are many different subjects here, and there is different theory. Was it science? Does ilm mean science, technology, geology, geography, botany, chemistry, physics, economics? These are all subjects and you could go on and on with different suffixes. All are subjects that have been named recently and keep coming. Is this the ilm that Allah ta’ala made clear to Hazrat Adam alayhi salam. Is this the ilm? If yes then I say others do this as well, and everyone learns this ilm. Even those who do not have faith learn this ilm and knowledge. So was this the uloom that was given to Hazrat Adam alayhi salam? What’s the difference? So which ilm is Allah ta’ala referring to that Allah taught to Adam alayhi salam? ‘asma a qula haa.’ The number one ilm that is needed in every generation from Hazrat Adam alayhi salam until qiyaamah, and the ilm that we will be desperate for. That’s the uloom that Allah ta’ala gave the human beings capacity for. Not that we say; why is such and such studying Science, or Geography. If he wants to become a doctor, he needs to study Physics. Why are all the subjects different. If this is the knowledge that Allah ta’ala is referring to then why is everyone in the world learning the same knowledge? This is not the case, so it’s not this ilm that Allah ta’ala gave to Adam alayhi salam. The ilm that Allah ta’ala is referring to, every man in the world has the capacity to learn this ilm. It is essential for him to learn this ilm otherwise he is not a human being. And for the people of Imaan it is 100% essential for them to learn this ilm. Allah ta’ala has given us that capability and what is that ilm that Allah ta’ala taught Adam alayhi salam and has also given to us? This is the ilm that will continue from Hazrat Adam alayhi salam until qiyaamah. If not, then the dunya will not exist. What ilm is that? This is that ilm which we have a need for and have been sent to this world for, without which we cannot succeed and Allah ta’ala would not have sent us to this earth. Allah sent us to this earth for that ilm and that knowledge. For that knowledge and that learning! Allah gave us the capability to learn it. So what knowledge is that?
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
Surah Az-Zariyat ayah 56
Allah says oh insaan and jinn I have created you for one purpose. Not for drinking, sleeping, walking, going here and there. No, you didn’t come with anything and you won’t leave with anything. So the objective I sent you with, you need to depart with that luggage. What is that ilm. Allah says;
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
I have sent you to the world oh human beings so that you can recognise your Lord. ‘Illa liyahbadoon,’ you need to see My ma’arifah. The angels see heaven and hell and they experience things near to Me and see the heavens and the skies. With regards to you, the great thing is that you are made out of clay and you are superior. You are my khalifa and I sent you to the world with one task. There will be things that are around you, and they will make you forget the hereafter and make you far from me. Everything will be behind the veil; I will not show you Jannah, and I will not show you hellfire or the angels. I will not show you the hoors and maidens. You won’t see the rivers of alcohol and glasses. You will not see the luxury and comfort. All these things are waiting for you in the hereafter, but I will not show you this. Instead I will show you the earth, all the creation, the plants and the leaves. I will show you all the sicknesses, difficulties and poverty. You will see zulm and impression. These are the things that you will see. You will see all of the different emotions and all the of the different life examples. Your objective will be to cut through all of this, subhanAllah, and see through the thickness of the woods. Allah says whatever situation you have, you need to seek My ma’arifah and My nearness and recognise your Lord because that’s the objective of life, subhanAllah.
So Allah has given us a great mission and objective. Its not difficult. So after doing everything Allah has given us the great respectful crown of khilaafa. We are the representatives, yes, we have been given the title as the children of Adam alayhi salam. So the faiz will come through. Allah ta’ala says the objective for which I sent you on the earth is ‘Illa liyahbadoon.’ That you should leave all the things that distract you from Me, you should leave all of those things and return and come back to your Lord and recognise your Lord. Bow in Allah ta’ala’s servanthood and submission. To attain this Allah Ta’ala has given us the ability to learn this ilm. So what is this ilm? Say subhanAllah. This is the point of the Quran when Allah says; وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا
What is this knowledge that Allah ta’ala is taking about? Is it Geography or History? No, that is for earning in this world. Allah says the uloom for which I created the world and sent you is so that you can worship and recognise Allah. That is the ilm by which you can recognise your Lord, otherwise you can never recognise your Lord and will be lost in the darkness of the world. Allah said I have given you total ability to learn and absorb this ilm. Look at how Allah has prepared everything. Allah sent us and Allah gave us the ability, which is this ilm (knowledge), so that illa liyahbadoon, we will never forget our Lord. Whoever you are and wherever you are. Wherever you go in the dunya, you will never forget your Lord and you will fulfil your duties and your tasks 100%. SubhanAllah, sujood, sajda, prostration and remembrance. What is that ilm my brothers?
Now here is a beautiful point again. A human being runs around after the world. Thousands have lost themselves in the world. People are all spread-out and lost and they are all running after the dunya. But Allah ta’ala has told us our objective. What is our objective? Obey Allah and recognise Allah. Follow Allah and obtain Allah’s ma’arifah, ma’arifah-e-ilaahi and irfaan-e-ilaahi. Obtain the knowledge of Allah, the awareness of Allah and the nearness of Allah. What a beautiful destination and task. Day and night we should be doing this. Seek Allah, find Allah, get close to Allah and understand the ma’arifah of Allah. Achieve the knowledge of Allah. To attain this a person should make maximum effort. For that you also need ilm. Whats the name of that ilm? Tell me. That ilm that Allah ta’ala gave us what is it called? Allah ta’ala taught Adam alayhi salam that ilm and then it was taught to all the human beings including all the special people like the Prophets. The Prophets came and took a promise from their people and this understanding continued until qiyaamah. But look at the greatness of this Ummah and the achievements of this Ummah, the final Ummah. What do we see that Allah ta’ala gave to this Ummah of the beloved sallalahu alayhi wa salam? Why did Allah make them the best? The reason is that all previous Ummah’s attained this message but, Alhumdulillah, at the time of Hajjul widah, the final Hajj - Hajj is about to come isn’t it - the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam was in the plane of Aarafah and the following verses were revealed by Allah;
Al-Maidah Ayah 3
I have completed your deen for you. SubhanAllah; Islam-e-deena. Allah says today I am happy with you and I have completed your deen for you and I have delivered all my ne’mah’s to you. And I am happy with your deen of Islam. This was the verse that was revealed at the time of the final Hajj upon the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam. Allah ta’ala announces in the Quran, that today this Uloom that continued from Adam alayhi salam via all the Ambiyaa, that uloom was not completed with any ummah before you, but today for your ummah I have completed this teaching, SubhanAllah. This is the biggest test of your Ummah and the biggest title and rank that they are greater than all of the previous Ummahs. Because deen did not get completed with the previous ummahs. But today in this era, we as the ummah of Muslims can confidently say that this deen was completed with us. Allah ta’ala gave us the full deen and understanding. Allah said I gave you all the ne’mah’s. What are the ne’mah’s. What does this mean? Allah said;
That I gave you all the ne’mah’s. What is that ne’mah? In other words the uloom, knowledge and nahma’s; those paths through which you can get the ma’arifah and irfaan of Allah. Those paths I have un-ravelled and opened up for this Ummah, subhanAllah.
What is that knowledge? I did not give that to any ummah before you. Oh my Habeeb sallalahu alayhi wa salam, you are Imam-ul-ambiya, and you are the Habeeb of Allah sallalahu alayhi wa salam, the beloved of Allah. So why should I not give to your Ummah that thing which was started from Hazrat Adam alayhi wa salam. That ilm, knowledge, ma’arifah and irfaan. Allah says for your ummah I have completed their deen today as a ne’mat. Allah says Islam is you deen, SubhanAllah. Allah says I am happy with this deen that I gave to you. Your Rabb is happy with all of these things. So, this is the ilm that Allah ta’ala has given to us. We see in Hadeeth, that when this verse was revealed, it was such a great reward that Allah ta’ala gave to this Ummah. When this verse was revealed it was like Eid for the Muslims at that time. There was so much happiness and celebrating when this verse was revealed. For example, a yahoodi said to Hazrat Umar radhyallahu anhu that today this verse was revealed to you. If it was revealed to us, we would have made it a day of celebration. This is such a great nahmah that Allah ta’ala is revealing this verse to you, SubhanAllah. Such was the circumstances and situation at that time, that the revelation of this became a valuable day for the Muslims. Allah said I have opened the door of my ma’arifah for you. Come seek your Rabb and attain his irfaan.
Was there a Hazrat Abdur Qadir Jillaani rahmatullah alayhi in any ummah before this? Was there a Hazrat Khwaaja Mohiudeen Chisti rahmatullah alayhi? Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Thani rahmatullah alayhi? Could anyone reach to their maqam in previous nations? Allah says this is the aalim of this Ummah. Whoever attains this ilm, knowledge and uloom. Whoever attains this Irfaan of Allah and nearness of Allah. Remember I am discussing this with you in the language of tasawwuf. This is the language of tasawwuf. Have human beings like these come to previous ummah’s? It is stated that the aalim today is the deputy of Allah in the world. He is the representative and he has got a great maqam compared to the previous ummahs. Why? Because Allah ta’ala gave His blessings and mercies so that the paths of knowledge are open to us completely. Allah created this universe and gave us this knowledge. The wretched shaytaans objective was to make the people depart this world as failures. It is stated in the hadeeth that on the day this verse was revealed, shaytaan had extreme anger and frustration. His biggest regret since the world was created was that day when this verse was revealed, SubhanAllah. Hajjul-wida, this was one day and the other day was the day of Badr. On these 2 days, shaytaan was extremely upset. Because it was a very delicate situation on that day. They were a small jamaat and the people without faith came as a massive army to try to affect the Muslims negatively. It didn’t look like the Muslims could be saved at that time, but Allah ta’ala’s assistance came. That was an event where shaytaan saw the angels coming down and they were in the rows assisting the muslimeen. That day shaytaan saw Allah’s help come. That day he was wretched and cursed and he was ashamed. That day he threw dust all over his body. The other day was the day of Arafah, Hajjul-wida which was also a great day.
Do you understand what I am saying? So what was it that Allah ta’ala announced? لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ. That I have completed your deen today which is Islam. The deen is totally complete now from which a person can attain Allah ta’ala’s ma’arifah and nearness and attain the rank of Irfaan. So my brothers what was that uloom? That ilm that Nabi karim sallalahu alayhi wa salam was given. He didn’t hide it. It wasn’t hidden. It wasn’t hidden at all was it? Allah ta’ala gave that ilm, that uloom to the Holy Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam. The sahaaba ikraam acquired that, and the sahaaba ikraam disseminated that. They spread that ilm and it will continue until qiyaamah and won’t stop. Why? Because the irfaan and nearness of Allah is until Qiyaamah. As long as a human being is present in the world, his mission is to worship Allah and to submit to Allah.
So through which ilm can we attain that? SubhanAllah, Allah said; kitaabulla wa sunnate rasullullah! Shariah and Sunnah! The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam said that I leave with you 2 things, my kitaab, Allahs kitab, and the Sunnah of Rasulullah sallalahu alayhi wa salam. Ilm of the Quran and the Sunnah. Every verse of the Quran will prove the sunnah as I mentioned to you previously. Every verse proves the sunnah of the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam. How can we leave this tareeqa? How can a person say that without Sunnah he will attain Allah ta’ala’s nearness? How can a person say this? Allah says وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا
What was it? What knowledge was it that Allah ta’ala gave to Hazrat Adam alayhi salam and it completed at the time of the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam. That was the Shariah. And this Shariah was with no-one before. No Prophet had this Shariah before. No-one had these principles. Who is the head of the Shariah? The Shariah is laid down and explained by the Quran. Remember we get 2 things from the Quran as we discussed before. The principles of the Quran; the instructions and the ahkaams, and then we have the amal; the practical Quran. So we have the orders; we have the theory which is the Shariah. And we have the amal; the practice of it, which is the Sunnah of Rasulullah sallalahu alayhi wa salam. So Shariah and Sunnah combined. They are intertwined so how can you separate them? You can’t separate them. If you try to separate Shariah from Sunnah then the deen will finish. There will be no deen remember this. If you try to detach Shariah from the Sunnah then the deen will not be present. Because whilst you have the principles, you won’t have the practical methodology to practice it. You have denied that to yourself. So that’s the biggest fitnah we have today, the biggest disorder and mischief. That’s the biggest fitnah in the deen unfortunately today. That when the asools will remain but the amal will finish. The principles and theory will be there, but the amal will finish. This is the greatest era of fitnah, and after this Mehdi alayhi salam will come and dajjal will come, and nothing else will remain. Shariah is not the ilm on its own. Allahs says;
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
Surah Al-Asr Ayah 3
Allah says along with imaan comes ‘amilas-saalihaat,’ alongside comes the Sunnah of Rasululah salallahu alayhi wa salam. So Allah told the angels the knowledge that He gave to Adam alayhi salam, وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا which was then concluded and completed at the time of the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam. This was the very same Shariah, this was the Quran. So Allah ta’ala gave us that hint right at the very beginning. Every child will be a hafiz and embrace that shariah, but the biggest fitnah at that time will be that whilst there will be Quran in the hearts, whilst there will be Quran in every home and on the shelves, there will be speeches and conferences, but the other part of Islam will be destroyed. The amal is the Sunnah, which is the way of the blessed Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam. When that Sunnah goes that means amal goes. Deen is not deen without the Sunnah. There is no religion and no faith because the amal has gone. We have read the Quran, but amal has finished and our deen has finished.
So this is the biggest fasaad, mischief and disorder. This is the generation about which is mentioned in hadeeth. Hazrat Ibn Abbaas radhyallahu anhu narrates that the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam said in my ummah a situation will arise such that they will learn the ilm, knowledge and theory. They will go to lengths to learn that knowledge. They will be aware of it and they will read the Quran at length. But despite all of this happening how will they create fitnah? They will say let’s go to the haakims and get some part of the world as well and keep our deen separate. So they will split their deen into 2 parts; deena and dunya. In other words, they will go and sell the deen at the hands of people who are wealthy in the world. In other words, there ilm will be for the purpose of earning the dunya and for benefitting the dunya. Amal will stop, amal on sunnah will stop, and they will use deen to benefit their dunya. People will come to them and say ‘wow how amazing you are’ and as a result they will make money out of them and make houses and buy cars. They will read the Quran and present it, but they will go to the bigshots for charity, money and assistance for being called over to specific countries. They will say no, no, deen and dunya are 2 separate things. We will keep our feet in the dunya and put our hands into the deen. But this cannot occur. Just like you have the nettles and thornes in a plant there is nothing else. Similarly, if you run after the dunya you will get nothing but sins, there will be nothing else for you to attain.
So this is a very important point and it is the biggest fitnah of the deen today. It is stated in the hadeeth that people will be deviated. This ilm will be removed and Allah ta’ala will take it out of their hearts, and Quran will be taken out of their hearts. Why? Because the knowledge and ilm that Allah gave, they did not implement it, they did not practically embark on it. They know what is haram and what is lawful. They know what is unlawful and wrong. They know it, but there is no amal on it. They know that singing and musical instruments is haram, everyone knows. Everyone knows this and it is basic knowledge. Not that the deen is for a specific group of people or for the darululooms. No, my brothers, Allah says I have spread the knowledge across the world for every single human being. So many people are listening, and they are aalims and scholars. Everybody knows Halal and Haram. Allah says I will give you the reckoning according to your knowledge. If you don’t know then learn it. You can’t say I didn’t know; you have to acquire the knowledge. Allah will judge you based on that. So the biggest mischief and disorder is that they will be aware of halal and haram but they won’t save themselves from the wrong. We are all aware, for example we know there is excrement lying somewhere and we will try to save ourselves from going near to it. Similarly, we will all know about dirt and impurities. We will know that the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa salam said something is wrong and will give a loss. The Shariah gives an order but we don’t implement it. The sister knows that to not observe pardah is haram. For women to leave the home is zinah and to do actions incorrectly is zinah. But they need to be taught by their mother and father. They will sit with their parents and do zinah and won’t consider it to be wrong. The hadeeth states that this is the biggest firnah. So the Quran says;
Allah says I gave all that knowledge to Adam alayhi salam and I taught him what he didn’t know. Allah says to the angels tell me the names of these things, tell me the name of this sulook. Do you know any of the amal for my ma’arifah and nearness? Show me what is ma’arifah. There is no angel that is a sufi because they are constantly doing one action for which Allah ta’ala created them. Whatever assignment Allah ta’ala gave to them they are stuck to it 100%. Allahu akbar, Allah says ‘in kuntum saadiqeen,’ if you are right and your thoughts are correct. Allah says then measure it and analyse it, if you think that he is made out of clay and you are suprised. So the angels heard that insaan has the quality to absorb the uloom and the irfaan and knowledge of Allah. He has the quality to attain this knowledge of Allah and recognise Allah and become a great human being. He has the ability to achieve high, high makaams. The angels were thinking that whilst they will be on the 1st heaven, subhanAllah, insaan will go to the heights of the seventh heaven due to the ilm and knowledge that he has.
Hazrat Khwaaja Moiuddin Chisti rahmatullah alayhi once said that I see the world before me just like a bowl, just like a seed in front of me, and I can see everything revolving around me. I can see the hikmah and wisdom of Allah in a minute space. So how did he become like this human being. He was informed and he was up to date. He knew and he had the ma’arifah and nearness of Allah. Due to the ilm of the Shariah, subhanAllah, due to the knowledge of the Shariah.
Surah Baqara Ayah 32
Allahu akbar, the angels said oh Allah glory be to you, we do not know save what you have taught us. Here I would like to mention another point that is a great point that comes out of this verse. The angels heard Allah ta’ala responding to their words. They had Allah’s greatness, supremacy, glory and magnificence totally in their hearts and they believed that. When Allah ta’ala’s glory and greatness is present, and someone sees this then he will say ‘subhanAllah’ and this a expression that Allah has given to all of us. It is an expression that we rejoice and be happy when Allah ta’ala’s Jamaal, knowledge, power, glory and status is before us. A person recognises when Allah ta’ala’s greatness comes in front of him and he expresses in this way. If Allah ta’ala did not give this kalima, then most definitely whoever had this passion within him would possibly pass away and not be able to absorb it. But Allah made these kalimaats; SubhanAllah, Alhumdulillah, so that this releases that pressure that a person has, and that misunderstanding that he has. As a result, he is able to control the knowledge and the uloom. When Allah ta’ala reveals to him the goodness of the deen and learnings and ulooms, and when he gets closer to Allah then Allah ta’ala gives him the capacity and the ability to absorb the deen. He has the capacity and the ability to understand the deen due to the dhikr of Allah and uloom. When his status is elevated, and he hears something good about Allah then he is so happy. You hear people say this, for example when a friend of Allah speaks, people say subhanAllah. Why does that come? Because that jazba and that greatness comes, and the more greatness in that person, the more greatness a person has for Allah in his heart, the more respect and adab and jalaal and kamaal he has, the more he will suddenly speak out and say SUBHANALLAH. That is the release of the pressure of love and imaan inside.
Kaaloo subhaanaka, immediately the angels released that answer to Allah. This is a great kalimah of subhanAllah that we cannot even imagine. When a person recites this and remembers Allah in this way, what’s the reward that Allah gives? Why is it that Allah loves when a person says SubhanAllah? SubhanAllah, Allah says I love this because you are showing your inner feelings. You hold Allah ta’ala’s glory and magnificence in your heart and that reality is in your heart, and suddenly you say subhanAllah because you want to share that. Allah ta’ala is so totally and 100% great, and so supreme, that our minds and our brains cannot really hold onto that knowledge and greatness of Allah. But Allah says as soon as a person says this, and the more sincerely he says it, the more noor and strong emotion with which he says it. If he says it in jalaal, subhanAllah, Allah says that I respond to that jalaal and passion with My greatness and My magnificence. I forgive the person to the extent, subhanAllah, that his books of deeds will be filled with deeds, and I will make Jannah his abode and I will give palaces and trees. Imagine the palaces and tree of Jannah at that time. SubhanAllah what a kalima. When a person repeats subhanAllah, the rewards cannot be imagined. It is stated it is like when a person frees thousands of slaves, hundreds of slaves at one time. So this kalima is not a minor thing, and this is expressing the inner joy and the inner pressure of the mu’min.
Anyhow the time has ended, inshAllah if life remains, if my health continues positively then we will sit again with the Quran inshAllah. I will speak with you and inshAllah we should be grateful to Allah that ongoing He has given us this beautiful time that we have allotted and opened the Quran. Ya Allah give us its greatness and the objective of today, that we may understand It and realise it. The first point was that our objective of coming to this dunya is ma’arifah ilaahi, to attain nearness to Allah. The second thing is that what is the path to attain this ma’arifah ilaahi? It is the uloom, the knowledge of Shariah and Sunnah. That is what will give us closeness to Allah and reach the destination. We have learnt these 2 things. Our objective in this world is to attain Allah’s nearness and ma’arifah which started from Adam alayhi salam and continued until now. And what is the uloom that will take us to ma’arifah illaahi? Shariah and sunnah of Rasulullah sallalahu alayhi wa salam. These 2 forms of knowledge will take us towards Allah’s nearness. And the 3rd thing that Alhumdulillah whatever feelings you have and emotions you have in your life; ups and downs etc, these are all based on Allah’s hikmah and wisdom. Nothing is a loss. Allah ta’ala says this is a short time and you cannot understand what the hikmah is behind what Allah ta’ala has decided and ordained. For us this is a source of Allah’s nearness. And the 4th thing is that when conditions arise then take the dhikr of Allah. When you have difficult times, ups and downs, so you can go along that journey with Allah’s decision and Allah’s will.

These tafseers of the Quran so far are the most beautiful I’ve ever heard or read ❤️ - every ayat is on the sunnah. I normally read Mufti Shafi Usmani’s tafseer. Inshallah Hazrat does the entire Quran ❤️
